Music Videos That Inspire Me

Music Videos that inspire me include:

Formation - Beyonce

Her use of different costumes and location to contrast the themes of nobility and poverty in the music videos accurately depicts the inequality and institutional oppression of black people in the United States as areas that are densely populated by black people in America are often known as 'ghettos' or 'projects' as they are highly underfunded and ignored by the government as the inhabitants often turn to crime.

Sweet Melody- Little Mix

The smooth transitions between the choreography is aesthetically pleasing and entertaining from the perspective of the audience. Despite it being set in the same location throughout the entire video, the different uses of angles, shots and lighting

NSG is a group that releases mostly grime music. Grime music videos are often shot on estates or warehouses with dark lighting and an intense ambiance. They have a successful motif with cars and women to draw in their audience which is typical in the London setting or similar areas. This music video is one of my biggest inspirations for my music video as I would like to stay true to the grime aesthetic and brand identity since the artists of the song that I have chosen are a grime group.

C Komen? - Kiff No Beat

This music video particularly inspires me with its use of angles and shot types as they accentuate the narrative of the video and the personalisation of the characters. The narrative is also something that I would like to explore with a group of friends who meet up with each other and spend the day together.

Cheers - Rihanna

The use of shots and scenes from Rihanna's tour that aren't staged gel well together, displaying a hectic but  enjoyable time she had when on tour during the early days of her career. The collage of her life over a long period is interesting and engaging for an audience.
